Fuel Grade Petroleum Coke

Fuel Grade Petcoke is mainly used as a high energy industrial fuel. Its high carbon content and strong calorific value make it a practical option for industries with continuous heat and energy demand.

It is commonly used in cement kilns, lime plants, industrial boilers and power generation facilities. In many applications, Fuel Grade Petcoke is used as an alternative or supplementary fuel to coal.

The suitability of each Fuel Grade Petcoke depends on the plant’s combustion system, environmental requirements and fuel-handling equipment. Sulfur content, gross calorific value, moisture, volatile matter, ash and HGI should therefore be evaluated together rather than separately.

Green Petroleum Coke (GPC)

Green Petroleum Coke, also called Green Petcoke or Raw Petroleum Coke, is the uncalcined form produced during the oil-refining process.

GPC may be used directly as an industrial fuel or processed further to produce Calcined Petroleum Coke. Its quality varies according to the crude oil source and refinery process.

Green Petroleum Coke is used in cement manufacturing, lime production, calcination plants, aluminium anode production and other carbon applications.

Available GPC specifications may include different sulfur levels, volatile matter, ash, moisture, metal content and particle sizes. Technical documents can be provided before order confirmation so the buyer can evaluate whether the product is suitable for the intended process.

Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC)

Calcined Petroleum Coke, known as CPC, is produced by heating Green Pet Coke at high temperatures. This process removes most of the moisture and volatile matter while increasing fixed carbon and density.

CPC is widely used as a carbon raw material in aluminium, steel and foundry industries. Typical applications include aluminium anode production, carbon additives, carbon raisers, recarburizers, graphite products and selected metallurgical processes.

Anode Grade Petroleum Coke

Anode Grade Petroleum Coke is used as a raw material in the production of carbon anodes for aluminium smelters.

This grade requires closer control of sulfur, ash, nickel, vanadium, density and physical structure. Consistency is especially important because changes in raw material quality can affect anode performance and aluminium production efficiency.

Petroleum Coke Applications

Petroleum Coke is used as either an industrial fuel or carbon raw material, depending on the grade.

In the cement industry, Fuel Grade Petcoke is used as a cement kiln fuel because of its high calorific value and low ash compared with many conventional solid fuels.

Lime producers use Petcoke in rotary kilns and other high-temperature systems. Power plants and industrial boilers may also use suitable fuel-grade material where the equipment and environmental controls are compatible.

In aluminium production, Green and Calcined Petroleum Coke are essential raw materials for carbon anodes. In steel mills and foundries, selected CPC grades are used as carbon raisers, recarburizers and carbon additives.
